You may wish to ask for donations in lieu of flowers at a funeral or memorial service. It's a simple and heartfelt way to commemorate your loved one. We can provide resources to make this as easy as possible.

You may wish to celebrate your loved one's life and raise money for a nominated charity through an online memorial. We can create a personalised page for you on the Ethiopiaid website.

Collect donations at a funeral or memorial
It may be that your loved one requested donations in lieu of flowers before their passing or maybe you wish to honour their memory by asking for donations to a cause close to their heart. Either way, it’s simple to collect donations at a funeral or memorial service.

If guests make a cash donation, you might like to collect donations in a large envelope or tribute box and then simply bank transfer the full amount to Ethiopiaid:

Alternatively, we can provide printed donation slips which guests can fill in with their chosen amount and payment method (credit card, cheque). You might like to collect the donation slips at the service and mail them back to us, or we can provide reply-paid envelopes to each of your guests so they can donate when or if they choose.
We can provide:
- Special donation slips which we can send in advance to you, a family member or directly to the funeral/memorial director.
- Reply-paid envelopes so you or your guests can return donation slips to Ethiopiaid.
- A personalised tax receipt for any family or friends who choose to make a donation.
- An acknowledgement letter to the family or Next of Kin sharing the amount that has been raised and the impact this will have in Ethiopia.

Set up an online memorial page
An online memorial page has dual benefit – it can celebrate the life and values of your loved one, and it can raise money for a cause they care deeply about.

If this feels right for your family, we can set up a personal memorial page on the Ethiopiaid website. We can also assist with writing a short biography about your loved one if you wish.
All you need to do is provide us with photos, favourite quotes or memories, and any special information you would like to see on the memorial page.
We can:
- Create a personalised memorial page in honour of your loved one on the Ethiopiaid website.
- Customise the page with special photos, memories, childhood/life stories, favourite quotes.
- Write a short biography about your loved one for use on the memorial page or wherever else you may wish.
- Write a custom tax receipt that is automatically emailed to friends or family after they donate.
- Provide an acknowledgement letter to the family or Next of Kin sharing the amount that has been raised and the impact this will have in Ethiopia.
