Valerie Browning Connects with Supporters Across Australia

Last month we were delighted to welcome Valerie Browning, founder of the Afar Pastoralist Development Association (APDA), on a special visit to Australia.

For more than 30 years, Valerie has worked alongside some of Ethiopia's most remote and vulnerable communities. Through APDA, she has helped build a trusted, locally led organisation that reaches families facing extraordinary challenges, including conflict, displacement, drought, hunger, disease and ongoing water insecurity.

Throughout her visit, Valerie shared powerful firsthand insights into the realities facing Afar communities today. We heard about the growing humanitarian challenges affecting the region, but also the remarkable resilience, strength and determination of the people APDA serves.

These conversations were a reminder of the vital role our supporters play in helping APDA deliver practical, life-saving assistance in some of the most challenging environments in Ethiopia. Whether through access to safe water, healthcare, education or emergency support, the impact of this partnership continues to reach thousands of people across the region.
