The conflict in Tigray has had devastating consequences. Millions have fled in terror of their lives. But, far from peace and safety, tens-of-thousands have fled into Afar, a region teetering on the brink of survival. Ongoing drought, “biblical” plagues of locusts and the worst flooding in Afar’s living history have laid waste to homes and livelihoods.

Our on-the-ground project partners, the Afar Pastoralist Development Association (APDA), are extending all their resources to provide the emergency relief that's needed so desperately right now.

Now, with tens of thousands of Tigrayan and Afar families displacing, we urgently need your help to ensure these people can survive. Will you donate now to provide urgently-needed food, soap and water for families in crisis?

“...These poor people are in abject terror and when asked what they need, they replied PEACE. We take this chance to say how grateful we are that we do not stand alone, that you are in our corner. This is enormously encouraging. Thank you to everyone who is sending food and help.”
Valerie Browning, Co-Founder & Program Director of project partners Afar Pastoralist Development Association (APDA)

“This long dry season compares in its terror to the worst the Afar have seen"
"...the dreaded locusts swarms are coming back… described by herdsmen as fully grown beasts as big as birds”
“Three-year-olds have unspeakable malnutrition, too weak to actually swallow anything thus unable to be treated by the mobile health team. Three children died this way from March to early April.”
"...those Tigrayans who tried to return to their home village from the forest where they fled were shot dead."
