Ethiopia Demographic and Health Survey 2024–2025: What the latest data tells us

The release of the 2024–2025 Ethiopia Demographic and Health Survey (EDHS) provides an important snapshot of the health and wellbeing of women, children and families across Ethiopia.

Conducted by the Ethiopian Statistical Service, the survey collects nationally representative data across a wide range of areas, including maternal and child health, fertility and family planning, nutrition, HIV, gender-based violence and obstetric fistula.

The latest findings show that Ethiopia has made meaningful progress in several areas of health. More women are accessing skilled care during childbirth, child survival has improved, and access to family planning has expanded. At the same time, the data highlights the significant challenges that remain - particularly for women and girls who face barriers to accessing essential healthcare and support.
